Medium Light Plants

With leaves that hang like the airy lights of a chandelier, Ficus bengalensis or Chandelier ‘Happiness’ is sure to brighten up any space and put a smile on your face. Also known as a Banyan Tree fig, this ficus is a delightful alternative to the finicky fiddle leaf fig. Native to India, where it thrives as a grand canopy tree, Chandelier ‘Happiness’ can be grown into a graceful, upright & well-mannered shape in your home; in years it will have a tree form.  It has smooth, light-colored stems that grow woody over time, and oval-shaped leaves of medium green, with contrasting, light-colored veining and irresistible peach fuzz coating. To keep your ‘Happiness’ its happiest, and prevent it from growing overly leggy, give it as much bright light as possible and keep it away from cold drafts in winter.

‘Danielle’ is another Ficus benjamina in our Cling-On collection, that has been bred to have leaves that resist dropping; they literally cling to this ficus. ‘Danielle’ can be grown as a small tree, or as an elegant multi-stemmed plant with a bushy habit. She has slender, arching branches that hold gorgeous, dark green leaves. In order to keep your ‘Danielle’ looking her best, she needs to be given plenty of bright light, such as can be found in an east- or west-facing window. A southern exposure would also be ideal.>/p>

Introducing Chroma ‘Abidjan’, named after the vibrant city on the Ivory Coast. This Rubber Plant has sleek, ovate-shaped leaves that are so dark green, they are almost ebony. Leaves contrast with the protective red sheaths on emerging growth; midribs also display hints of red. A little leaf shine will keep your ‘Abidjan’ as striking and sophisticated as its namesake city.

Color Full ‘Orbifolia’ wants to be at the center of your universe. With its broad, rounded leaves akin to “orbs” and elegantly striped in silvery-green, it demands your admiration. If you give this iconic Calathea the conditions it craves, it will dazzle you with its Instagrammably good looks. ‘Orbifolia’ has the potential to grow quite large over time, but please remember that this is one of the thinner-leaved varieties of calathea, therefore, it may be less tolerant of tap water and may require higher humidity to prevent leaf edges from turning brown and crispy.

Grace can be found with the unfurling of each leaf of ‘Like a Prayer.’ This calathea or prayer plant, has rounded leaves poised atop dark-colored stems. The leaves are adorned in a mesmerizing pattern of concentric circles in alternate brushstrokes of light green and dark green. The midribs are a contrasting shade of pink, and the undersides are a rich shade of burgundy-purple. As daylight wanes, the leaves fold up ‘Like a Prayer’.

Here’s a tropical alocasia capable of bringing a symphony of style into your space–Mythic ‘Jungle Music’. This verdant virtuoso features arrowhead-shaped leaves of medium green, dancing atop zebra-striped petioles. Each leaf is like an airy note in the rhythm of the rainforest. Consequently, they don’t require much soil fertility, can thrive in diffuse or indirect sunlight, and prefer to dry out completely in between watering. ‘Sword Dance’ is a more compact, bushy staghorn for any plant lover hoping to incorporate a touch of pre-historic intrigue into their home.

Bow down to the beauty of ‘Say Grace’! This Maranta or Prayer Plant hails from the rainforests of Brazil and appreciates humidity. It features smooth, elliptical-shaped leaves that grow in a spilling, trailing habit. The leaves are various shades of green with darker splotches along either side of the midrib and random brushstrokes of cream to lime green variegation. As its name implies, ‘Say Grace’ is a devout follower of its own bedtime rituals, folding up its leaves at night, as if in prayer!

Treat your indoor jungle to the delightful Philodendron rubrijuvenile ‘Toasted Toffee.’ This charming philodendron showcases velvety heart-shaped leaves, beautifully embossed with light-colored veining. Prismacolor ‘Orange you Gorgeous’ is a philodendron that will have you saying “Orange you Gorgeous!” This tropical houseplant is a living kaleidoscope of citrus-inspired colors, with elongated, spade-shaped leaves emerging a mottled bright orange color, then slowly fading to a marbled tapestry of gold & green. Leaf petioles, midribs, and margins have a warm, orangey glow, reminiscent of a sunrise over a tropical grove. Meet Prismacolor ‘Golden Girl,’ a philodendron that’s as good as gold. She has elongated, lance-shaped leaves with toothy edges. Her shiny, bright green leaves are flecked in golden variegation. On occasion, pops of red, bronze, or orange will adorn her leaves, stems, and sheaths. Given the proper support, such as a moss pole, ‘Golden Girl’ will ascend skyward on her quest for a golden crown. Like other philodendrons, ‘Golden Girl’ is adaptable to her environment & easy to care for; bright, indirect light will result in the most pronounced variegation.

This iconic houseplant has become a staple in many homes, and for good reason. It is an easy grower, and the fenestrated leaves with their unusual holes and slits are truly eye-catching! Juvenile plant foliage will be solid, and fenestrations will appear over time as the plant gets bigger and grows. There are a lot of common names for this plant, including Swiss Cheese Plant, Swiss Cheese Vine, Mexican Breadfruit, Split-Leaf Philodendron, and more. Please note that while this is NOT a Philodendron, the genera Monstera and Philodendron are indeed related.

Named after the Malay word for “tortoise” or the Indonesian word for “turtle” is a unique tropical plant known as ‘Kura Kura’ Labisia. This rare, eye catching specimen has elliptical-shaped, glossy leaves adorned with the patterns and textures of a turtle’s shell. Though an often slow grower, ‘Kura Kura’ will thrive in a warm, high-humidity environment, making it especially well-suited for life under glass.

Here is an unusual tropical plant, sure to ‘Uplift’ your spirits! ‘Uplift’ is an understory plant, native to the forests of South America. Each oval-shaped leaf is like a work of art, with mottling or marbling, in every shade of green–almost as if painted by an impressionist. Given the right conditions, new leaves and stems may occasionally exhibit some pinkish-red undertones. ‘Uplift’ needs bright, indirect light, but avoid placing it in direct sun. It detests cold drafts and wet feet. With consistent water and well-draining soil, ‘Uplift’ will grow on like a living masterpiece.
